Wrapping Up a Stellar 2024 at Yarrie Station
As the dust settles on another successful mustering season at Yarrie Station, we’re taking a moment to celebrate everything we’ve achieved in 2024.
The highlight reel is packed with wins: Outback Beef was crowned Overall Best Business and Best Micro Business at the Port Hedland CCI Business Awards, while our award-winning jerky claimed top honours at the Perth Royal Food Awards for the second year in a row. We also showcased the heart of Yarrie on Channel 9 Our State on Our Plate sharing our story of passion and quality produce.
This year Outback Beef added more outback flavour to our lineup with the addition of pies and bone broth and 2025 is set to bring even more delicious surprises with exciting projects in the pipeline.
On the farm, spring brought an incredible finish. After a challenging start to the year, the clover and ryegrass made a welcome return, transforming the pastures into lush, vibrant fields. This resurgence provided much-needed nourishment for our livestock and allowed us to fill our hay stack to the brim, ensuring ample supplies for the warm months ahead. The sight of well-stocked hay reserves is always a reassuring milestone for the season.
However, at the station it was a drier-than-normal year, with less than half of our average rainfall. The lack of rain posed its own challenges, from maintaining water supplies to managing grazing areas, testing the resilience and ingenuity of our team. Despite the hurdles, our crew’s hard work kept everything running smoothly. As we look ahead, we remain optimistic that the coming end of year will bring the big, soaking wet season the station so desperately needs to rejuvenate the land and sustain another productive year.
A massive thank you to all of you, who have supported us in countless ways. Those lending a hand on the stations and farms, to the team processing our beef and finally the people enjoying the taste of the outback on their plate—we can’t thank you enough. Every contribution, big or small makes a world of difference.
